Blair Chiropractic Membership Association
Pre and Post Graduate Resident Program:
Program Administered by the Blair Chiropractic Membership Association
Thank you for your interest in the Blair Chiropractic Membership Association Residency Program for pre-graduate and post- graduate chiropractic students and doctors. Please review the following materials carefully.
Program Overview
This program is open to students within their last year of chiropractic school, recent graduates or experienced doctors new to the Blair Technique looking to enhance their clinical skills. It is designed to allow these practitioners the opportunity to learn the Blair Technique from an experienced practicing member of the BCMA, honing their adjusting, case and practice management and marketing skills. For the Resident Host Doctor, the program offers the opportunity to assist in the development of and be reinvigorated by the enthusiasm and excitement of a new chiropractor.
* Some residents will be participating in an Internship/preceptorship with their college and still need to attain a certain quantity of required adjustments, examinations and/or physiotherapy requirements toward graduation. It is important to know whether this is the case or not when working with a resident to ensure the opportunities needed are provided.
Professional Liability
Students registered in a pre-graduate program through a chiropractic college are covered under the College’s master professional liability policy. This coverage extends to the resident host in those cases and situations in which the resident has had a role in the evaluation or care of any patient as long as both the resident and host are both actively participating in the pre-graduate “preceptorship” program. If a resident is post-graduate, they need to be licensed through the state and carry a policy at the minimum level of what their host doctor’s policy or be enrolled in a post-ceptor program through their chiropractic college.
Working Hours/Pay
The BCMA requires that residents who are licensed chiropractors are paid a living wage. The recommended calculator for minimum salary is either 1.5-2x minimum wage OR 60% of the median household income of your county. (https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045222)
Residents are expected to work 30-50 hours per week including clinic and marketing hours.
Students enrolled in a preceptor program cannot be paid and must follow all rules and regulations in regards to their preceptor program.
Resident Performance Review
At the end of the residency, both the resident and host are required to submit a “Resident Performance Review” document to the BCMA.
Resident Application Requirements
Prior to submitting this packet, please read the requirements to ensure that you are eligible for this program.
